Actor Joo Won, who gained wide recognition after staring in the drama “Bread, Love and Dreams” in 2010, will perform in a musical, breaking a four-year hiatus since “Spring Awakening” in 2009.
“Ghost,” which will be produced by Seensee Company, has finalized its 26 cast members after a two-week audition period in January.
The musical based on the Hollywood hit movie of the same title will be recreated with some computer graphics and magic tricks to suit the stage performance.
Joo will play Sam Wheat, played by Patrick Swayze in the film, in the show starting on Nov. 26 at D-Cube Art Center in Guro, southwestern Seoul.
Joo’s counterpart will be singer Ivy as Molly Jensen, played by Demi Moore in the original. Ivy performed in the musical “Chicago” last year.
Last month, he was cast as a lead actor in the movie “Only You.” The news came as a surprise to the movie industry as he has only filmed two movies thus far. He took part in “Special Investigation Unit” in 2011 and “Don’t Click” in 2012.
