“Good Doctor” Bids Farewell atop TV Charts

KBS’s drama “Good Doctor” has closed its curtain with an overwhelming ratings score, securing the top place on TV charts throughout its ten weeks’ run.

The 20-part medical series topped AGB Nielsen Media Research (Nielsen Korea)’s ratings chart with an average mark of 19.1 percent on October 7 and 8, the chart showed on Wednesday.

The two last episodes portray the happy ending of the lead role Park Sion (Joo Won), who overcomes his autism and gets doctor qualification, and his only love Cha Yoon-seo (Moon Chae-won).

On Tuesday, Joo Won expressed his big affection to the extraordinary character on his Twitter account that, “Thank you Sion, I learned so much thanks to you. My heart gets another big hole again..Bye Sion.”

From next Monday, new time-traveling romcom “Marry Him If You Dare,” starring Yoon Eun-hye, Lee Dong-gun and CNBLUE’s Jung Yong-hwa, is set to fill up the KBS’s Monday and Tuesday prime time slot.

MBC’s period-set drama “Goddess of Fire” and SBS’s family series “The Mystery Housemaid” continued its neck-and-neck race at the bottom with a huge gap from the chart-topping series.

“Goddess of Fire” recorded an average viewership of 7.3 percent this week, while “The Mystery Housemaid” earned 0.1 percent lower score than its disappointing competitor.

In the meantime, TNmS’s (Total National Multimedia Statistic) survey showed the three programs in the same order yet slightly different figures.

“Good Doctor” exited at the top position with an average score of 18.5 percent, while “Goddess” and “The Mystery” followed next two positions in order, each with average ratings of 7.7 and 6.4 percent, respectively.
